I had a few days off last week. So I called up 'The Brit School' on the off chance that I could come visit the following day and see the school and meet some of the students.
I was so HAPPY and EXCITED when they said yes. It was super last minute and I couldn't believe when I realised I hadn't been back in 10 years! Which is when I studied Musical Theatre and Fine art at 16 years old!10 years ago!! CRAZY!
I wanted to remind myself of where it all began and spark the hunger I had back then, the grind the passion. What made me want to get up at 5am everyday and get on 5/6 trains to Selhurst from Essex and what it all meant to me.
I auditioned for the girl band 'Souldeep' at the Brits which is where I was spotted and signed as a soloist to Gut Records (who eventually went bankrupt) and I was then signed to Universal and Sony from there.
But my point is, that without the Brit School and without that audition who knows where I would be now. Going back, the smell, the atmosphere, the feel was the same. The energy was unreal, I smiled from ear to ear all day. The way the teachers support the students and treat each individual dream as a priority its amazing.

This year will be my 4th year attending 'The Brit Awards' and I remember attending as a student in the audience with fellow classmates screaming all night. Wishing and dreaming one day I would have a seat on a table and collect an award.
So to now be attending as an artist and to be nominated as 'Best female' is a dream come true.
I wanted to attend the Brit Awards this year really appreciating what has happened to me, The success, and most importantly the support from my fans and the music.
I also wanted to remind the students that I had the pleasure of meeting that 10 years ago I had NO clue this would happen and it could happen to any of them. The dream can be real.

I want to say THANK YOU to The Brit School for existing, for believing in young peoples dreams! And for believing in me!
